Vet bills are the reason
people go into debt for a dog.
Pet policies are mostly defined by their exclusions. We show what each one leaves out, including breed conditions and anything already on the record, before you commit.

Breed matters more than you would expect.
Some conditions common to a breed are excluded by default. Worth knowing which before you insure rather than at claim time.
Compare dog coverCheaper to insure, still worth it.
Cats generally cost less to cover than dogs, and a single surgery can still run into thousands.
Compare cat coverIs the extras cover worth it?
Comprehensive policies add vaccinations and dental. Sometimes that pays for itself, often it does not. We show the maths.

Questions people ask
Are pre-existing conditions covered?
Generally no. Anything your pet has shown signs of before the policy started, or during the waiting period, is usually excluded. This is why insuring young matters.
Do premiums rise as my pet ages?
Almost always, and often steeply. Ask what the premium looks like at ten years old, not just year one, because that is when you are most likely to need it.
What is a benefit limit?
The most the policy pays in a year, and sometimes per condition. A low annual limit can be exhausted by a single serious illness, so compare limits rather than just the monthly price.
